During an Instagram Live last year, Noah Cyrus opened up about what it was like growing up in big sister Miley's shadow. "Being born in the family I was in, everybody gave me such a hard time for having a hard time being Miley's little sister, but I always felt like I was that person that no one gave a s*** about due to what people said to me online," she said.

Noah Cyrus also said that growing up with such a famous sister made her lose her identity as a child. "My whole life I was told that I would amount to zero because of what my sister had accomplished for herself. It made it really hard for me to grow up being told you're going to live in her shadow. Are you Miley Cyrus's sister? Are you Hannah Montana's sister?"

"That made me feel like I had no identity as a child," she admitted. "When I say child, Hannah Montana started before I was seven years old. So by the time I was seven I was asked that my entire life until I decided to make my music, make a name for myself and do my own thing."

“He told me his dad has a saying: ‘you have to wake up and choose to love someone every day’’ and it sparked this conversational song about the twilight of a relationship and the reluctance to admit that something has run its course. I relate to that in many ways, not only with me, but also just with my parents’ relationship. Writing about that gave me more understanding.”

Noah Cyrus teamed up with dad Billy Ray Cyrus, for her new album, on an emotional song about her recovery from addiction.

The track's inspiration came after Noah visited her father's Nashville home during her early recovery stages from a Xanax addiction. Billy reminded Noah to feel the earth under her feet, get grounded with nature and to stand still. 3 Noah Cyrus Wishes She Was More Supportive To Her Mother

Noah Cyrus often thinks and talks about her late grandmother Loretta, wearing a tribute to Tish Cyrus' mother. She has expressed her regret for not supporting her mother more during the passing of her grandmother.

I wrote that record in memory of my grandma, Loretta. I wrote it specifically to give to my mom,” Cyrus says. “When my grandma had passed away, I was really deep into prescription pills, Xanax, particularly … So that made me quite absent emotionally and physically during the time when she had passed away. My grandma was a woman of God and lived her life to spread the word of Jesus and to love everyone and to accept everyone. [She] really was the best example for us as kids and for my mom. She raised such a beautiful woman in my mom, and so I wanted to honor her and remind my mom of the meaning of Loretta’s life."

Billy Ray Cyrus's beloved mother Ruth Ann passed away on Friday, August 12.

1 How Noah Cyrus Learned To Be Okay With Fame

Twenty-two-year-old Noah has been reading about herself and her family since childhood. So she was aware that, in singing so honestly about her struggles with addition, she would make headlines.
